What is a home watch service?

Is it necessary to have a home watch service?

While it is not required to have a Home Watch service, we think it is necessary; especially if you will be away for an extended period of time. Adding Home Watch to protect your house and property while you are away can prevent a host of problems that can occur in your absence. Something as simple as newspapers or flyers left in the driveway can alert thieves that your home is vacant. Storm damage, such as flooding or fallen tree limbs from a hurricane or Nor’easter can create extended problems and expenses if left unattended. While most people trust a friend or neighbor to gather their mail or water their plants when they are out of town, having a reliable professional who is trained to properly survey your home will ensure that your residence and belongings are safe and in order when you return.

What happens if there is an emergency?

While this depends on the level of the emergency and the amount of access you’ve granted to our team, Rest A Shore’s employees are trained to handle most situations that may arise. Plus, when you opt to participate in our key holder program, we are able to help first responders gain entry into your home to prevent further damage that can occur if they are not able to enter your home to respond to a threat.

Does Home Watch replace security systems or neighborhood watch?

No. Consider Home Watch an elevated level of service and security that provides comfort and reassurance while you are away. Unlike neighborhood watch programs, Rest A Shore Home Watch professionals are trained to survey the full interior and exterior of your home for a list of potential threats or problems. And, while your security alarm will monitor entry to your home or fire alarms, they will not alert you to other problems, such as burst pipes, infestations or other troubles. Not to mention, the list of services offered by Rest A Shore Home Watch far exceeds that of which either service can provide. When you contract with our company, you can be confident that your home will be cared for like our very own.

What type of communication and reports to you provide?

You will receive an email notification from our team when they complete your inspection with a full report. In the event that we identify an issue at your home, we will include photographs of the concern or damage and follow up with a phone call to discuss recommendations for correcting the situation.

Can you prepare our home in the event of a storm?

Absolutely. Whether we’re facing a winter snow storm, hurricane, Nor’Easter, or are threatened with flooding due to heavy rainfall and high winds, Rest A Shore Home Watch can visit your home in advance of the storm to secure outdoor furniture, close storm shutters, and survey the property for any loose items that can cause potential damage. When you contract with us for Storm Services, we will also do a complete survey of the property following the storm to assess any damage that may have been inflicted. Not only will you have peace of mind that your home is taken care of as though you were in town, but you won’t return home to any surprises following the storm.

Can you help with home maintenance, repairs or contractors?

Yes. If you are interested in having home repairs or maintenance work performed while you are out of town, our team of professionals can coordinate with your contractors to monitor their work, grant access to your home, and be sure that your projects are completed prior to your return. While there are certain services that we are capable of completing ourselves, we are also able to provide contacts of local, reputable contractors.

How much does it cost?

All of our services are competitively and reasonably priced to give you the peace of mind that you deserve. Because each home and clients’ individual needs are different there is no set price for our services.
